Thank you to all those generous folks who have sent lace. I am awed by the generosity and thoughtfulness of artists, friends and strangers. These contributions have become part of the story of the work, and are included in exhibition info.
The Lace Archive will be compiled into an artist book of some kind, some version of which will be ready for my solo exhibition at Garrison Art Center in September 2021.
During 2020 quarantine as I was working on recent lace projects, boxes of lace began arriving from friends and from strangers around the country. Each piece is photographed, measured, and archived before being dyed and/or incorporated into a work. The recent installations are made wholly from donated lace. I hope to create a book of the archive along with the installations. This is an ongoing project and not all donations have been added yet.
There is much more lace in the process of being documented- check back soon to see more.
If you have lace and would like to donate (or sell!) it for the project, email me. I cover shipping!
Meg Pierce, who sent the first enormous box of lace early on, which seemed to inspire others. Sadly I did not photograph each piece in this early trove. The first Lamentation works are comprised of much from her collection.
