college & university

My teaching philosophy is inclusive, rigorous and dedicated to challenging
and empowering myself alongside students. Visual and verbal language is crucial in the development of critical thinking. Deconstructing and exploring the seen and unseen ways that language generates meaning is at the center of discourse in my classes. I am committed to the highest standards of dialogue and critique- and to the amazing students I am lucky to teach.

Currently I teach Curatorial theory in the graduate program at Western Colorado University.

From 205-19 I was a studio professor in the BFA program at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, a College of the University of New Haven. I was the first Practitioner-in-Residence, and inaugurated the first arts study abroad program in Prato, Italy, in 2017. I worked on courses at all levels, including senior thesis as lead instructor and on the team from 2007 - 2019. In those years I curated or assisted in the curation and installation of the senior thesis exhibition, and designed the senior exhibition catalog. I served as Interim Chair of Foundation 2009-2010, and was co-chair of the committee to redesign the foundations program. The school offered a foundation based in observation and figuration, using materiality and method as a language and basis for conceptual ideas. The college closed in summer 2019.

From 2015-20 I was core faculty in the low residency MFA Program at New Hampshire Institute of Art, an amazing program with a rigorous pedagogy and supportive dynamic philosophy. I taught Professional Practice, lead critiques, acted as artist mentor and thesis advisor. The school was acquired by New England College in 2019. They replaced all faculty.
